A cyber-hermetical journey through monetary technology
A collection of reflections on money as technology—and on cryptocurrencies as a possible way out.
Ever since I started writing Cyber Hermetica back in 2021, monetary technology has been a recurring thread. It had to be. After all, this project exists to explore the convergence of technology and humanity—to ask the real questions:
Where are we going? What are we building? Who is in control? And why does it all matter?
Money is one of the earliest technologies ever invented by humankind. Yet most people still don’t realize that money is a technology. Not just paper or numbers on a screen. It’s a system of power, memory, and meaning. A symbolic interface between desire, time and reality.
And because this truth is forgotten, money is used mindlessly. We trade our time for numbers on a screen without ever questioning their nature, origin, or destination.
But that’s why we’re here. To think. To remember. To reclaim. To understand what money has been, what it is becoming, and what it could be.
To raise awareness among our peers and our children.
This curation is my contribution to that effort. A collection of reflections on money as technology—and on cryptocurrencies as a possible way out. In the hope that awareness will turn into sovereignty. And stillness into action.
Enjoy, let me know what you think and share to those who might need it.
Money without Masters
As a digital citizen, you're likely accustomed to using some form of electronic payment. Digital methods undoubtedly offer more freedom of action, comfort, flexibility, and speed compared to good old cash.
For a fistful of dollars
Money is the hidden technology through which the degree of a civilization’s freedom is measured. By observing the quality of a currency, one can assess the health of a people. It is, after all, the most widely used technology by everyone, every day: invisible, omnipresent, amniotic.
Monero is for criminals
Today I want to talk to you about something that frightens states, banks, and respectable citizens. Something that reeks of back alleys, black markets, and anarchy. Something often used by criminals all over the world.
Crypto Wars and the digital dollar: Trump shakes things up
The Trump presidency is only a few weeks old, and social media is already flooded with videos of him signing a ton of Executive Orders—directives issued by the President of the United States with the force of law, directed at the federal government.
Solarpunk and Lunarpunk: The Dualism of Web3
Technology has already laid the groundwork for a social and cultural human revolution, but today we are stuck in a transitional limbo that could last for several more decades. In this liminal space, various ideas and approaches are emerging to prepare for humanity's possible future paths.
